The Caldecott Medal (Hall of Fame - 150 books) is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children to the illustrator of the most distinguished American picture book for children. Most years two or three additional books are chosen to receive Caldecott Honor awards. Reading levels in this club range from simple picture books through middle-school reading level.

Students in this club may read any Caldecott Award book (Medal or Honor). Students list the books they have read on the WHITE Caldecott reading logs available in the Library. Kindergarten, first, and second graders are tested after each 10 books. Third, fourth, and fifth graders are tested after each 25 books. The tester asks questions about two books from the student’s list. Questions are simple, so a student who has read the books will pass. Students receive a small prize and are recognized in front of their class after the completion of each list.

Caldecott books are shelved together in the Easy section of the Library. They are marked with a NEON ORANGE sticker with the words “Randolph Caldecott Award” and a medal-shaped icon.
